Writing Standards Portfolio

Hello mom and dad,

This quarter I have created, yet, another website for my portfolio. This time it is for my Writing Standards Portfolio. Now, you will be able to see the work that I do in my English class. This assignment gives you an opportunity to comment on my learning. It is also a part of my teacher's assessment on my attainment of General Learning Outcome #5, "Effective Communicator." My sharing of the portfolio should enable you to reflect and respond to the four reflection questions below. Thank you so much for your support.

While you are there, you will be treated to simple, but cute animations. You will also be able to view my work. Just click on the icons and they will automatically be downloaded to your desktop. Also, click on the pictures to view them in full screen size. ENJOY!! ^^

Here are the four reflection questions:
  1. What piece of writing did you like best in my portfolio and why?
  2. What did you like about my portfolio and sharing and what would you like to see me improve on?
  3. Which of the writing traits (ideas, organization, voice, word choice, sentence fluency) do you feel was most successful for me?
  4. Which of the traits of writing would you like me to improve on in the coming semester?
Love,
Shaneika

I AM VERY IMPRESSED AT HOW FAR YOU HAVE COME SINCE FRESHMAN YEAR! YOU HAVE DEFINITELY IMPROVED IN YOUR WEBSITE DESIGNING SKILLS! ALTHOUGH, YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO CREATE A WEBSITE, I LOVE THE INITIATIVE YOU HAD TO FOLLOW THROUGH WITH IT.

    1) The piece of writing that I really enjoyed was your coming of age essay. I never thought that you viewed school like that when you were younger. I thought that you loved school. But, I do remember that conference. I was so disappointed in you but, now that I see you have grown and you have become more mature, I'm very proud of you. I didn't know that I was the one who influenced you to become the person you are today. I feel like I have done my job as a mother. I'm very proud of you.

    2) I liked everything about your portfolio. The graphics and the pieces that uploaded onto your website. It's excellent! I would like to see you improve on word choice. You need to brush up on your vocabulary more, now that you are in high school. I hope you improve in this by studying harder.

    3) I feel that sentence fluency and ideas was the most successful for you. I have to agree with your teacher's commentary that it was BRAVO! I enjoyed reading it and it sounded like something I would read from a good book. Great job! Your ideas are very well done too. You have really good supporting details for that one piece of writing. WOW! Where did you get all of that information? I was very convinced.

    4) I would like to see you improve on word choice. Be sure you brush up on your vocabulary now.

GOOD JOB! I'M VERY PROUD OF YOU! I HOPE YOU IMPROVE EVEN MORE!
