Journal #13

1) The trait that I am most comfortable with is "Ideas" because it was the trait that I had the highest score on for my Roots and Recipes and I was able to maintain that score through my Querencia essay. This is also my strength because I love to imagine things and write them down on paper. And when I try to do that, I tend to write it in full detail. I also have a wild imagination and it comes in handy when I am writing creative writing stories. I don't have to worry about this trait as well. I can be very creative at times if I get really into what I am writing about.

The trait that I want to focus on is "Word Choice" because it is the trait that I dropped on. I received a 3 on my Roots and Recipes and on my Querencia I ended up dropping to 3/2 for this particular trait. I dropped because I couldn't find the right words for the sentences. I didn't use the words I know efficiently, instead I threw in random words that either led the person to focusing on the vocabulary I used rather than my essay. I also wasn't able to use my verbs wisely. Instead of turning words into 'ed,' I turned them into 'ing.' I believe I would have had a higher score if I was more specific and used stronger verbs to describe what I am showing vividly.

2) Invasive Alien Species

My Questions:

a) Couldn't we just evict all of the alien species out of the land? Or will it also harm the balance of our ecosystem?

b) Can't we form a large organization that helps save our native species from the alien species. Shouldn't we keep most of our native species captive and help breed them so that they can become many.

c) Doesn't the government have a strategy for these alien species so that they don't harm our cause imbalance in our ecosystem, especially the land we on?

d) Does the presence of the invasive alien species cause us our life and the food that we eat? If they conquered our entire land, do we have to alter our lifestyles, daily activities, and what we eat once they are the only thing that we can find in Hawaii?

e) Will the invasive species cause complete extinction to our native species that are living in our land? Doesn't the introduction of these alien species affect our health as well since they are bringing infectious diseases and causing our native species to become sick too?
